A common frustration dog owners share is that their dog often goes outside to eat grass and vomits it up when they return back inside. You’re probably tired of your dog throwing up the lawn on your clean carpets, and you’re worried that there might even be something wrong with your pup.

When your dog eats grass, it usually isn’t a cause for great concern. It’s actually normal for them to do this at times, and almost every dog will do it at some point in his life. Some dogs even like to eat it regularly and will shovel grass down like they haven’t had a meal in years!

But the question is, why is your dog doing this?

There are several different ideas about why dogs like to eat grass. Many people believe that dogs eat grass because they have an upset stomach, but this is not always the case. It is true that some dogs will eat grass to induce vomiting when they have an upset stomach, but it’s also thought that they eat it because they might not be getting essential nutrients that grass can provide. Still, other dogs eat grass just because they like the way it tastes!

Whatever the reason may be for your dog, it is normal behavior and, aside from vomiting, there are no known negative side effects that come from your dog’s grass-eating habit. You should always remember, though, that if you feel there may be something wrong with your pup, take him or her to see the vet as soon as possible.
