In summary, the total number of dogs abandoned has increased. The shelter, SPCA, took in 3,002 unwanted dogs last year, of which1,521 were pedigree. An average of about 126 pedigree dogs abandoned or lost each month last year.

Owners, frequently, gave the reason that they had no time to look after their pet dogs. Other reasons included owners having to move house.

So please think carefully before getting a pet and not to get a dog on impulse.
